Does rainbow trout have the same nutritional values as salmon?

I do adore salmon, and the nutritional values are great but it can get a little costly. Rainbow trout is similar in taste and texture and tends to be a lot cheaper, but where does it stand in terms of nutrition?

  1. No, rainbow trout does not have as many of the healthy omega-3 fats as salmon does. However, all fish do have some omega-3s, so eating some rather than none is still a good thing!
  2. Nutritionally speaking salmon has the most Omega-3's but a great substitution is Rainbow Trout which doesn't have AS MUCH but is a wonderful and close substitute nutritionally.
